Innovative Design - Case #2

In my opinion, the standard for a student as an innovative designer relates to all the 21st century skills. All the indicators to an innovative designer lean a little more heavily to critical thinking and creativity than communication and collaboration. In order to deliberate design process to generate ideas, test theories, and so on, a student must be able to critically think about what the best way to approach the design process and then use their creativity to create something new. In order to select and use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that considers design constraints and calculated risks students will need to first again, think critically. Approaching this indicator with a thought out plan will make things much easier on the student. To test, design, and refine prototypes a student must be able to make observations about what does and does not work, more critical thinking. In the refine process, students may need to come up with some out of the box ideas...

Ubiquitous Access to Information - Case #1

Benefits of ubiquitous access to information ·         Challenges critical thinking ·         Challenges creativity ·         Builds information literacy ·         Builds technology literacy Challenges of ubiquitous access to information ·         Easy to get distracted ·         Can find misinformation ·         Can take longer to accomplish tasks           I believe that ubiquitous access can both help and hinder development of 21 st century skills. Use of technology should be supervised and guided until the students have the basic skills to attempt use themselves. Almost anything in excess can be harmful, and ubiquitous access is the same. By controlling what students have...

As an avid reader and future English teacher, to me there are few things more important than sharing a good book. I believe that understanding symbolism in a novel is crucial to capturing all the details in a good story. Symbolism can be used to foreshadow, to show how characters are feeling, and so much more. Understanding Symbolism is involved in several of Indiana's English Academic Standards throughout multiple grades. Understanding the figurative and connotative meanings of word and phrases as they are used in literature is a major standard that is revisited and build upon every school year. https://gideonsway.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/what-are-symbols/
